Last week, two of our artists went into the LOCO Youth Club in Netherfield to collaborate with the kids there for designing our next exciting project: the Burton Road Jubilee Park mural. Commissioned by Gedling Borough Council and the Friends of Burton Road Jubilee Park, the project will see us decorate one of the walls at the park to represent how it has been central to the local community over the years.
On the first day, the children at LOCO were tasked with designing the backgrounds for the mural. Equipped with a multitude of paints and equipment, they experimented with different techniques, such as using bubble wrap or wallpaper to create a background full of texture.
At the end of the session, our artists asked the children what the park meant to them and what they’d like to see represented on it. There were a number of suggestions, including the beautiful flowers in the park’s nature trail as well as some more sporty inspirations such as cricket and skateboarding.
Our artists spent the next day creating the stencils for the kids to use on their backgrounds and here are some of the brilliant creations they came up with…
We can’t wait to get painting and we’d like to say a massive thank you for the enthusiasm and creativity of the brilliant kids at LOCO Youth Club!
