Our studio really came alive on Saturday for the launch event! The main space was packed with creative activities including Matt Marks Wheeze organ, a printing workshop by Pop Up Printing, music by Ben McElroy and a dress up photo-booth by performer Felicity Curtis. There was also a colouring competition, original artwork for sale and loads of tasty cakes! The courtyard outside transformed into a great little performance area for our show Too Many Cooks, featuring our specially converted van come stage. We love that so many people really embraced our interactive style of theatre with action songs and dancing!
We had over 100 people attend the Family Open Day which was brilliant, especially for a first public launch. The event was also designed as a fundraiser, HandMade Theatre is a charity and we needed support to help transform what was a tired and functional industrial unit into a dynamic creative space.
Feedback from the Day:
It was really lovely to see the event enjoyed by everyone, from those under 10 right up to those in their 70s, serving as a little reminder that art brings people together. HandMade seem to be able to effortlessly encapsulate that art is for all, whether you help create it or merely admire it.
Brilliant afternoon of fun!!
Best day out in a while, so lovely to catch up with peeps not seen or spoken to for an age ! Also to make new acquaintances. Handmade is a lovely community of wonderful people. Keep up the hard work Y’all. Love and hugs xxx
We had a brilliant time, Oscar (18 months) loved the area with all the nature bits like conkers and leaves, a great idea and a bit different.

Had a fab day photographing the HandMade Theatre open day at their new studio in Nottingham on Saturday. Anyone else have the ‘chop chop’ song stuck in their head still??
Thank you for a wonderful afternoon we had a fantastic time! I wish I had recorded my 2 year old trying to re tell his visit it went something like this… “There was biscuits, music,oh toys. Lady sat on it wah wah wah oh no, chop chop I clap bye bye” Going to pop my two little people’s colouring in the comments thanks again
We had a great afternoon today. Dominic loved the performance (especially the fart gags).
