Internship Review

Over the past few months, I have had the amazing opportunity to be Marketing and Admin Assistant at HandMade Theatre. Once I have left university, I would love to go into theatre marketing, so this placement couldn’t have been more suitable!

Throughout my time I was able to experience so many different aspects of the job. For example, one week I would be making an Excel spreadsheet on survey responses, and then the next I would be transporting and setting up the stage for a performance! My main role was posting on the socials to promote the Too Many Cooks at Christmas show. This was one of my favourite things to do because I got to go around Nottingham and take pictures of all the pretty Christmas lights for Instagram!

Amy and Suzy were so much fun to work with, and they always made sure that if there was something in particular that I wanted to try out then I would have the opportunity to do so. I was able to write up the script whilst they were devising it (which was definitely a challenge on my first day, but it was so much fun!).

I was also in charge of accumulating reviews after the performances and putting together a little film of them that we could use to promote future shows. And that’s not to mention roping all my housemates in to make hundreds of Brussels sprouts Christmas decorations which was definitely a highlight of the placement!!

I would fully recommend this placement to anyone; it was so much fun and allowed me to build loads of experience that I can take into a career in theatre. So, thank you to HandMade for the amazing opportunity!
