The Christmas Flying Machine

We’ve just completed our festive run of The Christmas Flying Machine at Cast in Doncaster. This was a huge opportunity for the company undertaking a three week residency and working in a wonderful theatre. With 4 shows a day it was a hectic schedule for the dedicated HandMade Theatre team but also really amazing! We helped spread lots of festive cheer and lots of playful fun.

We developed a unique version of The Flying Machine, which took our crew on a mission to find a missing present for Santa. We battled through storms and flew high through space, to reach the secretive location of Elf Storage. There we met a rather cheeky elf and following a lively elf jig, entered into the deep dark Christmas tree forest, to meet the Christmas goose who kindly gave us one of her golden eggs. Our final stop was the snowy Antarctic, where we met a very grumpy penguin who had accidentally mistaken the present for an egg. Congratulation a successful mission!

Take a look at our gallery of images below – thanks to all the children and adults who contributed to the show with their wonderful ideas, actions and singing!!

One parent kindly wrote: ‘We wanted to congratulate the cast on a wonderful performance. You have finished the christmas holidays off in style. To watch the sheer joy on our daughter’s face as she joined the crew to rescue the missing christmas present was wonderful. This is the stuff christmas memories are made of.’
